Nexium 24HR Once Daily Dosing is a combination of two medications: esomeprazole and nexium. Esomeprazole is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) that regulates the acid secretion from the stomach by blocking the pumps that produce excess stomach acid. Nexium is a prescription medication used to treat reflux and heartburn in adults and children aged 14 years and over. Esomeprazole is available over-the-counter in tablet form and extended-release tablet form.
